Marriage is a life-long commitment that requires work and constant adjustments. Ten years in, Carrie and I had both changed jobs multiple times, received college degrees, watched a toddler grow into a teen, and began dealing with mid-life. That's a lot of stress on a marriage. We thought renewing our vows would be a healthy way to to recommit and reaffirm our love for each other.
When we started looking around for someone to perform the ceremony, we was very disheartened at the cost. And having a destination renewal was even more expensive.
In my day job at The Thrifty Mountaineer, I'm concerned about the way people spend money, especially in West Virginia. We offer overstock products that save people money and financial coaching to help them get out of debt, so why not become ordained and offer an affordable (and fun!) option? I became ordained with American Marriage Ministries to perform nondemnominational ceremonies.
The Bigfoot idea just seemed to fit. We were the first Bigfoot and cryptid store in Morgantown, so why not marry people dressed like Bigfoot? People go to Vegas to get married by Elvis, why not come to West Virginia to tie the knot with Bigfoot? Of course, we can do more traditional weddings too.
And as for our quest to renew our vows...we finally made it happen at Jordan Pond in Acadia National Park in Maine in October 2023!
Jeremy and I are honored and excited for you to choose to share your most special day with us. We believe in marriage and take your commitment to each other, as well as ours, very seriously.
*Our story*
We married with traditional vows 11 years ago and renewed our vows writing our own on our 10 year anniversary. It was important for us share vows again after years of life's changes and all the ups and downs it brings. People change through time, life gets hard, and marriages change as well. To have the opportunity to reaffirm our devotion to each other was a beautiful day we'll never forget.
We are not just about a day though; we're about marriage. Weddings are special and create memories to last a lifetime. We work hard to make our marriage successful and I can truly say we are more in love now than when we were first married. Incorporating weddings and vow renewals to our business isn't just for business. We practice what we promote every day by creating a life together that celebrates love, friendship, respect, and teamwork. It's not perfect, but lifetime commitment and happiness is possible.. if you believe

Bigfoot doesn't plan. You're lucky you get to see him.
No, but Bigfootweddings.com parent company, The Thrifty Mountaineer, is a Ramsey-certified financial coach! He can help you get your finances in order before, and after, the big day.
We want to make sure your big day is everything you want. Our goal is to meet in person or virtually so we can go over the vows that will be used in your service, and make sure we get all the little details correct.
In West Virginia, both parties must apply, in-person, at the county courthouse of the county where they will be married. After the wedding we'll sign it, file it, and get it back to you.
Bigfoot needs to get back to the woods. His part, and two songs will typically last about 15 minutes.
Bigfoot's prices include travel up to 50 miles. Further distances will incur a mileage fee. For ceremonies that start at 8pm or later, or weddings that take place outside of Morgantown, a hotel fee may apply.
